In order to further take advantage of Macao’s role as the service platform between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, to give full play to Macao’s role as a link between China and the Lusophone, and to strengthen the cooperation in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship, Parafuturo de Macau Investment and Development Limited (PFM) signed strategic co-operation agreement with the Cape Verdean Institute for the Promotion of Business Support (Instituto de Apoio e Promoção Empresarial – Pró-Empresa) at the 28th “Macao International Trade and Investment Fair” (MIF) on 20th October 2023. The parties will develop an information exchange mechanism, so as to achieve entrepreneurial resource sharing and collaborative development, and to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem linking the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Portuguese-Speaking Countries.
The Executive Director of PFM, Mr. Carlos Lam Ka Vai, signed the agreement with the Representative of Pró-Empresa, CEO of Cabo Verde TradeInvest, Mr. José Almada Dias.
The Cape Verdean Institute for the Promotion of Business Support is the managing entity of the ‘Cabo Verde Digital’ project, which aims to promote technological entrepreneurship in Cape Verde and support the creation of a digital ecosystem. Both parties look forward to enhancing the mutually beneficial relationship through the signing of the agreement, which will not only give full play to Cape Verde’s strategic geographic advantage as a gateway for Macao enterprises to enter the African continent, but also allow Macao to serve as a platform for Cape Verdean enterprises to enter the Chinese market. The two sides undertook to exchange information and provide assistance on entrepreneurship training, investment and financing information and entrepreneurship competitions. The Cape Verdean authority expects Macao to play a synergistic role in providing Cape Verde with data processing, training, development and technical services. Agreement was also reached on facilitating incubation and acceleration projects at the development stage, and on facilitating the travel of technical experts, among other agendas.
