To motivate Macao youths to explore new choices and opportunities outside the traditional career orientations as well as to take action to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams and thereby infuse Macao’s economic development with new energy, the SAR Government has, under the auspices of the Industrial and Commercial Development Fund, launched the Young Entrepreneurs Aid Scheme, offered interest-free financial assistance for the benefit of local youths who have entrepreneurial dreams but lack resources, thus alleviating the pressures of funding at the early stage of a business start-up.
Young entrepreneurs in Macao and limited-liability companies in which young entrepreneurs in Macao hold more than 50% of their capital contributions are eligible to apply. The financial assistance must be used for the following purposes: the purchase of equipment needed for operation of the business enterprise; decoration of the enterprise’s place of business; the signing of a commercial concession or franchising contract; the acquisition of the exclusive right to use a particular technology or intellectual property; advertising and promotional activities; the enhancement of operation capabilities and competitiveness; or working capital for the enterprise. The maximum amount of assistance per enterprise is MOP 300,000, and repayment over a period of up to eight years is allowed.
